Backup Recovery Area to Destination

We're new to the Oracle database and Exadata.  I'm trying to to use the Rman 'Backup Recovery Area To Destination' via OEM to copy backup files in ASM to another non-ASM directory and am getting an error that says 'No Such File or Directory' even though I created the directories on the database node with the proper permissions.  Can this be done?  Is there a different syntax I need to use?
