Formatting of saved queries exported to EXCEL

When the query results of an saved query are exported to EXCEL (Export button) , the default Database formatting is used. So for example, numbers are shown in US format, (e.g. 3.85) but based on the locale settings I would expect European format (3,85). This causes havoc when the document is opened in EXCEL. Excel thinks it's reading a European document, and interprets 3.85 as a date field:  March 1985.

How can this be controlled?
