Upgrading/Patching DRM without effecting other products in EPM Suite

I'm looking into upgrading my DRM to the new 11.1.2.4 version.  I'd like to upgrade FCM at the same time in this instance, but in the future I may need to patch/upgrade FCM or DRM separately.  Is this possible?  I'm thinking similar to FDM EE where you can patch FDM EE without effecting the rest of your EPM install.
