Rent start date as back date

Hi

Can we define lease in Property Manager on a date after the actual rent start date.

For example a lease is executed in Dec-14 with start date as 1Jan15; can the same be enter in system on 15th Jan or 15 th Feb with a start date (for calculation of rent) in backdate.
