Removing ASM and single-instance DB from CRS (11gR1)

I installed 11gR1 on RHEL as single-instance RAC with ASM.  I now would like to remove ASM and the database from CRS control and just start and stop them manually.  In http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b28263/rem_orcl.htm#CWLIN329, it is stated that I can run localconfig add on the ASM home to do this.  Can I simply do this and disable CRS or do I actually have to run the root scripts and remove Clusterware?  I would prefer to leave this in place in case I decide to go back to CRS.

Howdy, Stranger!
