OS Patching EBS 11i (11.5.10.2) and updating glibc version-2.5-123.0.1.el5_11.1 as per Vulnerability

We are currently in 11.5.10.2 (RUP7) and the SA wants to Patch the Application server which are currently on OEL 5.9 (32 BIT). The patch also includes the latest Ghost vulnerability(CVE-2015-0235) which is updating the glibc version-2.5-123.0.1.el5_11.1. I would like to see if anyone if familiar and has done similar OS Patching. I am a little worried since EBS 11i application server is old and might cause application issue.
