Global_Attributes in MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS

Hello,

Can someone please let me know the usage of global attributes in MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS. To my knowledge, I know that global attributes are used for localization but i am looking for a more specific and practical use of those attributes
