Copy profile to start a new period will not move out of pending status.

After a full day's work yesterday, finally reconciliations moved to "Open with preparer", but not until after we deleted out all of the balances, and deleted and re-added one profile.

Then, for some reason, all of the statuses went moved from Pending status to "open with preparer".

Why would this be? 

Why wouldn't the recs move from pending status after doing the copy to period like it always has?

Is there some SOA process that has to run in the background that may have not been running and was awakened by the delete profile and re-add?
