OHS 12c Keystore Policy

In "/em" console, it is possible to navigate to "WebLogic Domain" -> Security -> Keystore -> "system" -> "trust". I am trying to understand how the "trust" policy works. Why do we need this in addition to the wallet that the instance uses ? Also does this policy translate to a "Wallet" at the file system level ?
