Bar Coding in Oracle Fixed Assets

The client wants to use the functionality of the Bar-Coding in Fixed Assets to take the Physical Inventory of the Assets. So far as I understand there is Tag Number in Fixed Assets to store the Bar Coding Information. But this tag number is used to store information for many assets at a time. For example if 10 Laptops are purchased all ten will be ideally capitalized under one tag number.
