Hi,

I am a JD Edwards CNC Consultant, For some reason I am in a need to perform a Database backup and restore operation on Oracle DB which is hosted on Solaris.

OS : Solaris 10.5

DB : Oracle 11.2.3.0

now the infrastructure is consists of two boxes with identical installation. One is live another one is cold backup. The backup is taken on a separate disk space.

What I am intend to do is take backup from the live box and restore it on the cold backup box after booting it up (Using RMAN) and validate the restoration using the JDE application.
