Why when we run MRP and we have parent demand we are not seeing demand for child item?

We have Forecast for parent items. When we run MRP we expected to then see associated demand for children items of parent. We already have checked BOM is in place and supply and demand is there for parent item but not there for children. We see MRP generated messages for parent but nothing for children.
