IO performance on DOMu (user created VM)

We are on ODA X4-2 with 12.1.2.1.0 software

create a user VM

created vdisk (new feature in 12.1.2)

running a few simple dd tests with different block sizes gets us between 14-60 mb/sec

running the same thing on Dom0 where I suppose direct access to storage is available, we get ~1GB/sec

I tried using NFS instead of vdisk and mounting the repos from dom0 to domu as nfs ( I played with HANFS ) , slightly better, but still nowhere close to Dom0

What are best performance options for storage in Domu?

Anyone knows what is realistic expectations on the Domu should be (or is achievable) ?
