HI All,

today we have planned activity to restart production server , after restart , one of ASM disk got misplaced , meaning ASM instance could not mount disk group and stated in Alert log disk #3 is not available, we are running 11gR2 GI in RHEL 5.5 x86-64bit. below are my few confusing points that i need to understand.

1- when one disk got missed ,, where does ASM knows which disk number is missed , i mean #3 , how ASM know its #3 disk missplaced ,

2-if a disk got missed , as alert log only gives Number, and Unix team always demands name of Disk, from where i can find name of disk ?

Howdy, Stranger!
