Can dbf files be copied from Redhat 5 to Redhat 6 hosts?

I need to move a database from a Redhat 5 (86x-64) host to a Redhat 6 hosts.  I could use RMAN duplicate, but it would be simpler to copy the dbf files and control files over.  Anyone see a problem with this?
