R12 How to setup KITs in Inventory for Discrete Manufacturing

Hello :

As far as I know I need to setup an item in the master with the item template like a KIT(Parent) and create another items for the components (Childs), and also the parent should be inventory but it does not have any on-hand, only de components must have on hand in order to be picked from Order Management.
