How to install Solaris 10 recommended patches on a server with both whole and sparse zones

I have a Solaris 10 server running Zones, with one sparse root zone, and one whole root zone. I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to apply the 10 Recommended patches.

I think I need to stop both non-global zones, apply the patches to the global zone, start the non-global zones, and then apply the patches to the whole root zone to complete the installation.

I'm looking for confirmation or correction to this installation plan.
