AAIs and Inactive GL Accounts

We've had an issue recently where the Finance folks inactivated a bunch of accounts causing numerous kickouts for sales order entry. Has there ever been consideration given to not allowing that kind of P0901 / F0901 change when F4095 records exist? The system won't let you delete an address book record if there is other activity using it: AP, AR, etc. There are other checks & balances like that elsewhere in the system. It would be nice to have this kind of check & balance in this situation.
