Is it possible to use picklist value groups using Lead Status?

Hi everyone,

At my organization, we track stages per status. For example, there could be 5 different stages you can go through if the Lead is in a Qualifying Status. In an effort to restrict the value options for each Status, I am looking to set up picklist value groups to do this for different departments within the organization. But, I'm running into a problem. I set the picklist value groups up and everything looks great but then when I try to Qualify the Lead, I get an error because if qualified, the stage doesn't exist for that Status.

Has anyone run into this issue? If so, how did you fix it?
