Oracle client 11gR2 backward compatible?

I have two Linux based Oracle RAC clusters - 11gR1 and 11gR2 respectively.

I am using an open source test application that needs to control the two RACs, and hence I am planning to build an Oracle client and install this application on that.

Can I build an 11gR2 client on a Windows server to control 2 RACs using RHEL nodes - and one running 11gR2 and the other running an older 11gR1 version?
