R12- OM Initial Pick up date becomes actual departure date

We are on R12.1.3 and using Order Management , Inventory and all financial modules. We are using average costing. While setting global parameters we have not set delivery date calculation method , it is blank.

At the time of ship confirm, when the actual departure date is selected, it becomes the date on which inventory is accounted for. In our case if user selects this date as a past date/ earlier date, on this date inventory is hit or credited.

Take an example that the date as actual departure was selected as 15th February,15 Qty- 1, however the receipt of item in inventory was of 20th February,15 Qty-1. The on hand inventory was also 1. The item was procured for the first time on 20th February,15, having no earlier costs.
