significance of memory parameter in category RAC 12c

Hello,

When memory for big category was changed from 4000 to 8000 the database got started.Please suggest what's significance of memory parameter here.

[grid@c01n01 2_2]$ crsctl status server -category big

NAME=c01n01

STATE=ONLINE

[grid@c01n01 2_2]$ crsctl status category -server c01n01
