minimum additional software for OID

Ok, I've been spinning my wheels on this for several days now.  I need to investigate using 'global' users to authenticate with Active Directory.  It is my understanding that to do that I need to install OID.  It is my further understanding that Oracle's packaging of OID has changed with versions, and maybe even mid-version.  It would appear that I need Fusion Middleware, but at https://shop.oracle.com/pls/ostore/f?p=dstore:2:0::NO:RIR,RP,2:PROD_HIER_ID:4509883114661805720002 it appears that even "Fusion Middleware" is just an umbrella marketing name for various packaged products.

So I need to get pointed in the right direction on this.  What is the minimal software I need to implement AD authentication?
