Changing Asset Cost

The Cost field associated to a FA and its Book is grayed out and it not allowing to change. We have a situation where the Asset was created with cost 'X'. that need to be changed to  'Y', after the asset has gone through a couple of monthly depreciation cycles.  Can this be achieved from the Asset Workbench?
