R31804, AAI 3280, processing option setting

We have an issue where the system is essentially reversing some of our variances via the AAI 3280. We found this processing option in the R31804 which we have set to a 1. It states that setting this to a 1 would “eliminate variances”….

 

My question to you is: what is the most common setting you see for this processing option? Why would companies set it to a “1”? Why wouldn’t they set it to a “1”? It just seems to us that we should blank this out and all our problems will be solved. Could you give us a little more insight on this?
