11gr2 RAC when and instance in the cluster goes down what does the customer experience?

I have a 2 node cluster with CRS 11.2.0.3 and database version 11.2.0.3. When I apply the quarterly SPU patch and I take the instances down on node 1 using srvctl stop instance what doe the customer experience if their connection was on this instance? Does Oracle move the connections or does the customer lose connection and just need to reconnect?
