Line Type between Sales Order and Confirm Shipment

Hi,

I would like to ask is there any relationship between line type in sales order and confirm shipment ?

for example i created sales order SO with line type "W", can I override confirm shipment with line type "S" ?

What is the effect and different in Line Type: "S (Stock)", " W (Work Oder)", "F (Freight)" ?
