RMAN won't delete archive log backups older than retention time

Hi everyone,

I am facing a very strange behaviour with one of our 11.2.0.3 databases! Whole systems runs smoothly for years now, never had a problem (despite a couple of VM problems), especially not in the backup department.

So, all the sudden - starting with Dec last year - RMAN won't delete archive log backups anymore.

Retention policy is set to 5, but there are actually archive log backups of Dec still present in the file system. Full backups are being deleted!

What's really strange though, is that once I turn the retention policy to 3, RMAN marks all those archive log backups as obsolete!!

Howdy, Stranger!
