My old middleware home is still there after upgrade to 12.1.0.4

I recently upgraded from 12.1.0.3 to 12.1.0.4 so I have a new middleware home (middleware_12cr4) however even after removing products from runInstaller -deinstall the old home is still there "12.1.0/middleware" is it safe to just manually remove that whole directory?
