Query from DBA_LOGSTDBY_UNSUPPORTED_TABLE takes hours

What could be the reason for a query from DBA_LOGSTDBY_UNSUPPORTED_TABLE taking hours?  When it finally does finish, there's 649 rows. We did recently change the compatible parameter from 11.2.0 to 11.2.0.3 in order to get XMLTYPE support.  The DBMS version is 11.2.0.3 on Solaris x86 and is currently running single instance with no standby.
