Webcenter Spaces 'Content Presenter' Browse button error

When using the Content Presenter Configuration dialog while editing a Spaces page, clicking the Browse button causes the modal window to disappear (without showing the UCM file browser dialog) and the underlying edit page is refreshed.

A possible cause was a customization to folderViewer.jsff.xml was applied to the instance but the problem continues after the customization is removed. (i.e. using deleteMetadata(application='webcenter', server='WC_Spaces', docs='/oracle/webcenter/doclib/view/jsf/taskflows/folderViewer/**', excludeBaseDocs='true'))

This problem has been discovered in multiple environments on both 11.1.1.7 and 11.1.1.8 after upgrading WebCenter Suite from 11.1.1.6 and happens using any browser.
