Recurring Journal entries in R12-effective dates

I'm trying to create a recurring journal entry with effective dates that start on Dec.1/14 and end on March 25/15. The journal import execution report shows that journal entries were created for each period except for Mar-15. Is it because the end date needs to be March 31/15, why is this ? Also, can you prorate recurring journal entries ? (# of days instead of just # of periods).
