One Ledger, Multiple Currencies - pros and cons

edited Apr 1, 2015 7:51PM in General Ledger - EBS (MOSC) 4 commentsAnswered

I have a question about the pros of cons of a particular Ledger (Set of Books) Configuration.

The decision has been made to implement one ledger for 2 countries (USA and Canada).  The functional currency of the ledger will be in USD.  When Canadian dollar transactions need to be entered, the user will need to change the currency to CAD (or have it default) and then enter the amount in the entered currency field.  What are the main drawbacks of such an approach?  The usual approach is to implement using two ledgers in this situation.

The other financial modules we have are AR, AP, Cash Mgt and Fixed Assets.

Howdy, Stranger!
