Is it feasible to use Oracle AR module to keep track of donations from donors?

We are a non-for-profit medical research company, privately funded. We routinely accept donations.  Currently we use MS Access to keep track of the donations / donors.  We manually make journal entries in our Oracle Financials system (specifically, General Ledger) to record the funds.  We need to generate several types of letters to donors for various purposes, such as acknowledgement, appreciation letter, and a summary at the year end to assist with the donor's tax filing, etc.

My question is, would it be possible or feasible to use Oracle Receivables module to keep track of the donations from donors as required by our business processes? Ideally, it would be great if a journal entry can be interfaced from AR to Oracle GL to record the funds. This would eliminate the manual journal entries.  Each donor would be a customer. The donor's donation would be the miscellaneous receipts from the "customer".

Howdy, Stranger!
