iWAY config in JDE.INI on iSeries slows down thin client logon

We're trying to get the JDE Adaptor for iWAY working.  I've updated the JDE.INI on our iSeries as requested by iWAY, but with the changes in place our thin client environments are now taking 20 minutes to open.  The debug log calls business function 'DetermineIfVertexIsActive', then hangs for 9 minutes before returning with a return code of 99.  We are running Xe with SP24.1.4 and and iSeries OS of V6R2.  Any ideas would be appreciated.
