Session-Agent with names opposed to IP - Ping Options

I been searching and reading but have not came a cross what I think I need. I have several Session-Agents that use same IP and unique ports therfore have named them with names opposed to IP Addresses. I need to know when they go in and out of service but think I'm challenged but using names and not IPs because of my situation usiung same IP with unique ports. How can I use ping options with session-agents using names to know when they are in and out of service?
