SIP route preference

Here's a bit of lore that turned up in my recent office move. I'm posting it here for posterity. Note that while some of this information is dated, the general operating theory still holds true -- there just may be more discriminators nowadays.

 

This information used to be found in our 1.x documentation set, but was removed in the 2.0 and newer documentation sets. I used to refer to this so often that a hard copy was taped to my office wall. I just found it in a stack of old documents and have re-typed it for posting here.

It is important to note that prefix length is considered in the local policy post-lookup scenario when the Net-Net SD is sorting configured local policies (i.e., routes) by preference. The Net-Net SD applies preference to configured local policies in the order in which they are presented in this list:
