invite authentication with digest

my phone is sending an invite to the acmepacket and it fowards the invite to the softswitch.  softswitch responds with an unauthorized challege.  The phone then sends a second invite with digest authentication parameters.  acme gets this second invite and does nothing with it..any thoughts?
