TLS on a peering environment.

Hello everybody!!!

One of our customers wants to provide security to a SIP trunk in a peering environment, we are in doubt if use either TLS or IP sec.

Could anybody help me with the questions bellow:

Is it possible to use TLS in a peering environment?

If it is possible, are there configuration differences between access and peering environments?

The customer has a Net-Net SD 3820 with the following licenses:

SBC-CCCVA# show features
Total session capacity: 350
Enabled features:
150 sessions, SIP, H323, IWF, QOS, ACP, Routing, Load Balancing,
Accounting, High Availability, Software TLS, ENUM, DoS, IDS

As is shown the SBC has the Software TLS license, but it does not have the SSM2 module for this equipment what would be the maximun number of sessions that can be established without impacting performance?

Howdy, Stranger!
