TLS hardware requirements.

We are about to implement TLS in one of out SBC 4500.

 

According to v6.30 "Configuration Guide" SSM2 module is required to support TLS:

 

"The Net-Net SBC’s TLS functionality depends on the presence of a the Signaling

Security Module (SSM) for hardware acceleration of encryption and decryption and

random media generation."

 

 

However, datasheet "Data_Sheet_APKT_DS_NN-4500_110908" states that NIU ETC can handle that signalling traffic as well:

 

"Enhanced Traffic Control NIU

• Four 1000 Mbps Ethernet fiber or four 10/100/1000 Mbps copper ports (requires SFP transceivers)

• Integrated high-capacity encryption (IPsec, SRTP, TLS) processors

• Inline QoS measurement

• Integrated hardware-based SIP-TLS and TCP processing"
