QP_PREQ_PUB.PRICE_REQUEST Performance Issues

I am using QP_PREQ_PUB.PRICE_REQUEST  API to derive the unit price for an item and customer. While running the API for more than 10k records, the performance considerably goes down.For 10k records, it takes around 15 mins to complete and for 20k around 45 mins.

Any suggestions on how to improve the performance of the API
