11g database on w2k8 : performance problem and server restart
Hi,
For several months, we're experiencing a slowdown on a software.
There's no memory or CPU alert on the server hosting the database of that software.
In order to tune the performance, the software provider advices us to plan a weekly restart of the server hosting the database.
According to me, that won't solve the problem, since :
When you restart the database, you free the database memory zones, so that will decrease performance instead of increasing it.
The memory allocated for Oracle is fixed, so there won't be "more" memory because you restart the server.
Can you confirm that the server reboot is not the solution ?
