Has anyone purged Counter Readings from CSI_COUNTER_READINGS?

Hi Everyone!

There currently is no supported way of purging counter readings from the CSI_COUNTER_READINGS table.  No API.  There is an Enhancement Request, and we cannot afford to wait for this.

Bug 9926511 : NEED A PUBLIC API FOR DELETING COUNTER READINGS

We have an excessive number of records in this table, which is severely impacting overall system performance.  Particularly for Service Contracts Main Billing Program, which uses the counter readings for Usage item billings.

We are considering developing a custom program to purge these records, and would like to talk to anyone that has done this.  We would also like to talk to anyone who researched doing this, but then decided not to.
