Upgrading to GI 12c but keeping db in 11g

Hi everyone,

We are in the middle of upgrading to 12c our GI/databases and currently facing this situation:

In a non-production cluster B, we have a mixture of standby databases, single instance dev databases and test rac databases. We are upgrading non-production clusters but this scenario imposes a couple of restrictions:

We cannot upgrade standby databases since production upgrade will be done at the end.

We cannot upgrade dev/test databases yet due to development work in progress.

So, we wonder if upgrading only GI and not upgrading databases will allow everything work as usual.

Does somebody know if this is certified/supported? I mean, having our clusters running GI 12c while databases remain 11g...and working?
