How do i uninstall 8.1.7.4 on a server which also has 10g and 11g installed on it ? what is the corr

I have a UNIX server with the follwoing Oracle versions installed

8.1.7.4

10.2.0.5

11.2.0.3

11.2.0.4

I am in the process of removing all redundant software. Trying the 8.1.7 OUI hung. Tried the 11g OUI that hung as well and resulted in 'breaking the 11.2.0.4 oracle_home

such that I had to relink the 11g software afterwards.

What is the correct way to safely remove 8.1.7 in this situation ?

Could I detach it from the OraInventory and then just remove the directories ?
