DB Archive Log Mode

G'day,

Is there  a recommended starting size for the Oracle DB archive log mode?

We have a 15 GB 5 day retention but it was still insufficient on an authoring cluster where code is integrated and content production is taking place. When a publish (around 7K assets in the queue) takes place, the DB is choked and thus the application servers.

This is 11.1.1.8.0 patch 7, WebLogic, and Oracle DB.
