Is there something mischievous about RMAN backups and Oracle?

HI,

I have another recent post about a slightly different topic but I couldn't help but vent/ask a few more things

1)

I make a full backup with archive log all and I find that I have 410 files in the OS
When I check the number of files via V$BACKUP_FILES, v$BACKUP_SET and LIST BACKUP they only mention 385 files so how come I have 410 files in that directory

Why? Is there any RMAN theory recommend book/article to read about these annoying inconsistencies?

There are also others inconsistency that really get to me (as a so-called dba) such as.
