I have a customer who is planning on upgrading their Active Directory domain from AD 2003 to AD 2012. This entails the replacement of the Domain Controllers that their WebLogic 9.2 implementation currently talks to. AD 2003 will be end-of-life on 14th July 2015. They therefore are under pressure to ensure that they have a solution to the WebLogic support issue before then.  Upgrading WebLogic itself for this application in the timescales available to them is not feasible. The application will be replaced in 2017 and therefore any change they make will be tactical and not in line with their strategic roadmap. Changing the AD integrated authentication to internal Oracle Internet Directory authentication has been discussed and rejected as the business impact would be significant.
