The meaning of top command

edited Apr 28, 2015 10:05AM in Linux Operating System (MOSC) 1 commentAnswered

I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question.

But, I usually monitor the database resource use by issue the top command in the unix box.

However, I am not every clear on the meaning of the top command.

Please see the attached screenshot.

NLWP what is the meaning of this? The bigger number means what and the small number means what? Also, I see PRI with different numbers. I believe PRI might be priority. So the larger the number means lower the priority? Also, when NICE has a value of 2 does that mean it is not good? Gurus please advise. Thank you.
