11g client install on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.6 x86_64

I am reading through the pre-reqs in case something was overlooked on the box, but there is a vendor requirement to have an 11g 32 bit client installed on a red hat 6 linux box x86_64

on a similar box the 64bit client was installed without issue.  But when installing the 32 bit client, I am running into the following when testing via sqlplus:

usct1pxopc001.cuc.com<>$ sqlplus

sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I can see the file

usct1pxopc001.cuc.com<>$ ls -ltr /oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/client32/lib/stubs/libaio.so.1
